The Freedom Rower partners with us!
Out of the blue in October we received a call from JHB-based adventurer Peet Botma aka The Freedom Rower, that in November he will be taking part in ‘The World’s Toughest Row‘ a solo crossing from North Africa, across the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean, a truly epic challenge that takes between 50-100 days to complete! The race has a strong focus on giving back and highlighting charities, and Peet chose us to be his chosen NGO.
Peet, who does most of his training in Simonstown, visited the project, met the team and pledged his support. Little did we know how much that support would be! Through a fundraising event held in Pretoria in October, his community of supporters donated a substantial amount to our humble little project. This funding will go such a long way, helping cover costs for at least 8 months and buying us some much needed breathing room as we focus on kids in the project, and less on where we will find the money to pay the bills at month end.
We are so grateful for this support, and wish Peet all the best on his incredible challenge that lies ahead!!
